2008 Report Summary
SARE promotional activities included a SARE booth at 6 conferences, and 3 grant-writing or general SARE presentations. Partners in program development and implementation included: Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, Organic Crop Improvement Association, Center for Rural Affairs, NECS, and Prairie Hills School. A total of $10,000 was distributed in mini-grants to support professional development, and $4,445 was distributed in travel scholarships to support educator participation in professional development. Major initiatives included regional conferences focused on sustainable agriculture, and an organic farming training project and tour. Outcomes reported by educators included 11 using information to answer client questions, 11 developing new contacts/partners, 6 incorporated information into new programming, 7 delivering new programs, and 5 using information in newsletter or other media.

2009 Plan of Work Summary
The four Initiatives selected for the 2009 Nebraska POW include: 1) Regional Conferences Focusing on Sustainable Agriculture Issues, 2) Organic and SA Education,
3) Educational Approaches for Youth/Young Adults and 4) Emerging Issues. The first initiative provides PD training for 40 educators by participating in and awarding travel scholarships for three SA conferences in three separate locations across the state. Organic and SA education is targeted to 120 NRCS Technicians, Extension Educators and RC&D personnel. A 2-day bus tour and Niche Pork Work with UNL will provide PD for Extension Educators, Community College and High School Instructors. A minimum of five competitive mini-grants ($12,500) will be awarded in the Youth and Emerging Issues Initiatives.
