2009 Report Summary
Nebraska promoted SARE professional development programs with exhibits and presentations at 7 conferences, a webinar, 2 tours and 2 workshops. SARE publications were shared with the Farm Beginnings Program and Focus Ag Extension Educators. Program Partners with Nebraska professional development were UNL Extension, NE Sus. Ag Society Center for Rural Affairs, NRCS, Voc Ag instructors and others. Twenty-one educators awarded travel scholarships. Of those awarded, 18 reported answering client questions, 21 had individual consultations, 18 developed new contacts, 16 incorporated into programming, 13 delivered new programming, 12 used in newsletters or other media and 6 used the training in other ways. There were no outcome numbers available for the workshops, tour and other trainings. Nebraska PDP awarded 21 travel scholarships ($7,476) and 3 mini-grants ($6,070).

2010 Plan of Work Summary
Nebraska developed a state SARE website going live in early 2010, continues to promote PDP travel scholarships, mini-grants and promote the program through presentations and personal contact. Nebraska’s 2010 PDP program will target 154 educators to participate in 4 initiatiatives: (1) Regional Conferences Focusing on Sustainable Agriculture Issues, (2) Educational Experiences in Sustainable Agriculture for Nebraska Educators, (3) Scaling Up Local Food Systems regional training and (4) We-based Education of Sustainable Agriculture. Twenty $200 travel scholarships ($4,000) are available. $2000 is reserved for emerging issues and can help support professional development mini-grants, workshops or tours.
